Low key photography contains dark tones and colours it conveys a atmosphere and the mood. But High key photography images feel airy and light. A low key is dramatic and full of mystery. The subject matter of this is image is women. The lighting of the image is a high contrast. It is clearly lit with no shadows. I think there is 4 lights that have been used and I think they are placed eye level. The camera is positioned at eye level the sitter this affects the meaning of the image by the sitter looking directly into the lens without moving their eyes up and down . I think the image is at focus at 100. The photographer is trying to communicate that the subject looks directly into the lens. The appearance of the image and the techniques they have used add to this by being emotionally neutral and a factual presentation. A low key photography is when their is a shooting of dark coloured background.Nicholas Jenson worked mainly in venice, Italy and he was inspired by the lettering which was found on ancient roman buildings. His letter forms was based on straight lines and regular curves this made them clear and legible which was compared to the dense darkness of black letters this made his new typeface a instant success and it was spread across Europe, after roman letters was italics, which was slanted and stylized versions of roman type. They were created in the 15th century by Aldus Manutius from Italy, this was a way of fitting more letters on a page and saving money. Aldus Manutius also created modern commas and the semicolon, type development stayed fairly until the 18th century in England when William Caslon created a typeface that set a new standard for legibility it was just what the world was looking for. Caslon's typeface is now referred to as a old style. Later on another Brit John Baskerville who created a new variety of typefaces which was called transitional.
